Carnivals/Festivals
We have been featured on four carnivals/festivals this week. We are pleased to welcome all new readers to Not the Jet Set. To find out more about us, click here. We are a personal finance blog focused on frugality, stewardship, and current events, while also telling our story as a family and the personal finance decisions we have made. Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out our new NtJS Cafepress shop!
The Carnival of Money Hacks has posted over at Moolanomy with Mrs. NtJS's garage sale hacks. Pinyo is also launching a new and interesting project called PF Buzz, so be sure to check that out. Some other hacks that caught our eyes:
- The Shark Investor takes a look at earning extra income by freelancing. This is a great read for those of you wanting to make more, but not sure how.
- The better half of Budgets Are $exy (sorry J) has an article on friendly and frugal tactics for cutting wedding costs. Congrats on the impending nuptials!
- Clever Dude shares an awesome Freecycle deal. And here I thought that we did well on there. This one takes the cake.
- The Digerati Life helps us navigate the wheres and whys of today's secondary market.
- FiveCentNickel has an insightful post about the social acceptability of frugality. But do you really care about what other people think?
- I can see where Seb of Pinching Copper has been spending his time - GTA IV.
- Cash Money Life has a very tasteful piece on how to resign with grace and dignity.
- Free Money Finance has an interesting discussion on time-frame rules of thumb for finding a new job. I don't care how long it takes, so long as you have an income during that time.
- No Credit Needed shares some inside info on those fabulous store branded credit cards.
- Simple Mom has the correct answer to the question of paying off the mortgage early.
- Financial Zip shares a story about finding $100 in someones budget. What a great discovery! Some additional tips for the rest of us as well.
- Funny About Money tells a tale of lies and deception, errr or at least a salesman and handyman who didn't know that you can in fact successfully drill plastic and tread a screw into it. How do they think all these plastic products are held together!?
